Helmsley's attractions
include the Castle, Duncombe Park and the
Victorian walled Garden, as well as having
an array of delightful shops and tearooms.
Kirbymoorside makes an ideal base for exploring the North
Yorkshire Moors National Park and just a few
miles away the area around Hutton-le-Hole is a walker's
paradise. It is also the home of Ryedale Folk Museum which
is well worth a visit. Nearby Farndale is famous for its
daffodils in the Spring.
Rockery Cottage is only a few minutes drive from many local attractions
such as James Herriott's Museum at Thirsk, Nunnington Hall, Byland
Abbey and Flamingo Park Zoo.
The market town of Malton is about 20 minutes drive away and
offers excellent shopping facilities. Easingwold is a similar
distance away and is well known locally for its antique shops.
The beautiful and historic walled city of York is about 35 minutes
drive away where visitors will find many famous places to see
and visit including; York Minster, the Jorvik Museum and the
National Railway Museum to name but three.
On the East Coast there are some beautiful places to visit, including
Robin Hoods Bay, Runswick Bay, Scarborough Whitby and Staithes.
Goathland, made famous by the TV series 'Heartbeat' is located
close to the North York Moors Steam Railway which starts at Pickering.
Pickering also offers a Castle and the Beck Isle Museum.
Serious walkers can enjoy the Cleveland
and Ebor Ways. |
